EVERYONE NEEDS - Beaded Accessories
One of my first design jobs was working for a High Street clothing supplier. I can't tell you how many pairs of embroidered khaki combats, embellished white net tops and tea stained check shirts I designed in 2002, but let's just say the whole of the UK probably had a good go at looking like All Saints.
Fast forward 15 years and it's back. Embroidered jeans, distressed denim jackets with hand painted flowers, seed bead necklines and studded camo jackets. As you might have guessed from my Miss Magpie name, I'm an avid collector of shiny things and so this resurgence is heaven for me.
I always find something amazing in Mango to satisfy my love of bling and this season they didn't let me down. I love the colours of this long line beaded necklace as it features pink, green, red and silver so means it goes with multiple outfits. It's a great length, especially if you're busty, as it's long enough not to bounce off your chest when you walk (does anyone have this problem?!). It's £15.99 too which I think is an incredible price for the amount of work.
This little beaded bag from Accessorize is gorgeous. Rather than put it with an occasionwear outfit, I'd prefer to wear it with something casual as per my illustration above. This one has now sold out but there are others in their extensive range, my favourite being the £32 Sara Beaded Foldover Clutch. It's simple, and again has the long chain strap.
These statement beaded earrings are £12.99 from Mango too and I love them. They are well balanced and have plastic backs that means they can fit really snugly and so are comfortable to wear. I've worn these for a day trip to the beach as well as to the Polo, they are super versatile.
And another item that is great for layering up is this Boden necklace. It's part of the Lena collection that's available in silver and gold. It has necklaces in two lengths as well as a lovely bracelet. I was very happy to be given the gold long line necklace from Boden as a gift to wear as part of my outfit for their Spring Blooms Tour. Although it has a hammered finish it's still a little bright for me to wear every day (I'm more of a rose gold or brass girl I think), however it looked great on my sister who has blonde hair and a tan. If like me you're pale I'd go with the silver.
